Jeanie Marie Buss was born in America. Buss is the founder and director of the Los Angeles Lakers National Basketball Association. Buss is a California native who grew in an affluent family. Her father Jerry Buss was a real-estate tycoon who later became the manager of the Lakers and other businesses related to sports. The couple divorced in 1972, which caused her to feel like she was left behind. She joined the family business in the age of 19 to become the general manager for the Los Angeles Strings tennis team. The team was later renamed in the Los Angeles Blades, a professional team of roller hockey. Before she became vice president of the Lakers She was also the president of the Great Western Forum. Her father died in 2013, and his control over ownership of the Lakers was inherited by Buss and her five siblings via a trust for the family which gave each sibling an equal vote.
